Zatem sledi dogodek v juliju v Portorožu, v oktobru v turški prestolnici Istanbulu ter ob zaključku leta ponovno finale v Ljubljani ...
WFC in Serbia for the first time
In the year 2011 WFC will have its events in Serbia and Turkey for the first time. »My goal is to expand WFC throughout the region. In April we will go to Belgrade. In Serbia they have many top level fighters who have participated in WFC before. That's why I think it makes sense to organize an event in Belgrade. In this way many local fighters will have a chance to fight in front of their home fans«, said Mahic. Apart from local fighters (Aleksandar Radosavljevic, Dragan Tesanovic,…) Serbian MMA fans will have a chance to see up close fighters from Brasil, England, Norway, Greece, Poland, Croatia, Turkey and Bolgaria. At this moment Mahic still isn't sure if any Slovenian fighters will participate in the event in Belgrade. »Probably not. I would much rather see them at the next event in Bled, Slovenia. We'll see. There is still some time to make these decisions«, said Mahič. One thing is for sure – Pionir Arena will have an electrifying atmosphere. »In Serbia we will focus on their home fighters and when we will come back to Slovenia, we will focus on Slovenian fighters. But we can never forget about the foreigners!«
Bruno Carvalho is 3-0 in WFC.
Comebacks of Pele, Carvalho…
WFC doesn't leave anything to chance and it won't be any different at the event in Serbia, which will be organized at the highest level. Mahič guarantees spectacular fights with great fighters. Besides Tesanovic and Radosavljevic there will be some other less known, but up and coming Serbian fighters. Returning to WFC are: Bruno Carvalho, Jose »Pele« Landi-Jons and Jair »Sorriso« Goncalves from Brasil and heavy-weight Andreas »Big Daddy« Kraniotakes from Greece. Mahic didn't want to give out the names of other fighters, but he promised that no one will leave the event unsatisfied. »We want it to rock«, Mahic made it clear. He knows that with a successfull event he can lay solid foundations for the future. »We feel that Belgrade is a great market. Besides, there has never been such an event there.« He didn't want to talk about expenses, but he did admit that total cost would be higher than in Slovenia. »In Ljubljana it's much easier to organize such an event, because we've done it before and we know exactly what to expect as far as cost is concerned. We are new to Belgrade, so we must consider any possible unexpected expenses.«
»We moved the event in Turkey to October. Istanbul is a huge market and we simply didn't have enough time to prepare everything in three months.« explained Mahic, At first it was planned to organize an event in Turkey in early March. »We are working on Istanbul event almost every day« said Mahic, who also stated, that he wants to tap into Austrian and German markets. But before he does that, he will focus on a busy year 2011.
